Two Chinese students born in the same province four months apart who have identical names have been admitted to the same university after gaining the same mark in their entrance examinations, mainland media reports.

The men, Su Yuxuan, from Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, knew each other when they were classmates at the same middle school and were later roommates while at high school, the news portal Thepaper.cn reported.

The older Su Yuxuan was born in September 1998, while the younger one was born in January 1999.

Both the men’s parents gave them the same name in Chinese, which means, “have a dignified appearance”.

By coincidence, the two men have gained the same score of 645 in this summer’s university entrance exam and were then both given places at Tongji University – one of Shanghai’s best universities, which is well known for teaching civil engineering.

The older Su will be studying electronics and information engineering, while his namesake will be studying transportation engineering, the report said.
