Chinese woman held for hitting traffic cop in parking row

A woman in western China has been detained after she attacked a police assistant trying to stop her from parking illegally and blocking a road, according to Chinese media.

The incident involving the wife of a local government official took place on Wednesday in Zigong in Sichuan province, the West China City Daily reported.

“With just a phone call, I could cause you to lose your job in minutes,” witnesses quoted the woman as saying.

The police assistant, who was helping short staffed local traffic police, was hit on chest by the woman, according to the report.

The woman, whose full name was not given, also confirmed she had threatened to slap the officer twice and that she had behaved badly, according to the article.

Surveillance video showed the woman striking the officer and trying to attack three traffic policemen who came later to take her to a nearby police station.

The report did not make clear if she was the driver of the car or a passenger.

She was placed in detention for seven days, the report said.
