Man suffers injuries to buttocks after becoming trapped in moving machinery
A man in Fuyang, Anhui province, has been hospitalised after an escalator accident in a shopping mall on Sunday, in which he suffered serious injuries to his buttocks.
A photo taken by a witness showed him caught between a downward -moving step and a floor panel, , news portal Anhuinews.com reported.
Blood could be seen on the man’s white pants, and his cries could be heard throughout the mall, witnesses said. The man said he missed a step at the end of his descent and accidentally fell into a seated position on the escalator.
It took police, firefighters and lift maintenance workers a considerable amount of effort to free the man, the report said.
“Man-eating” escalators have been the cause of many injuries and even deaths in public areas on the mainland in recent years.
