Surveillance footage shows the motorcyclist crashing into the truck’s fuel tank as it turned at a junction.

The truck was immediately engulfed in flames and the burning motorcycle rider is seen rolling on the road before he is dragged away by two passers-by, leaving a black, sooty mark on the tarmac.

The man, whose full name was not given, was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, according to the Associated Press.

The truck driver was quoted in the report as saying that he leapt out of the passenger door to escape the flames.

“Then I rushed to the injured man and rescued him,” he said.

The fire took about 40 minutes to put out.

The incident gained the attention of international media and internet users in China.

Most praised the truck driver for helping to save the rider, but others questioned the motorcyclist’s riding skills.

“The motorcyclist should compensate for the losses,” one person wrote.
