The man had reportedly swerved to avoid a Porsche at a junction in Nanchang

A driver was killed when his BMW slammed into a road divider and burst into flames after he swerved suddenly to avoid a Porsche that was turning left.

The accident occurred at a junction in the city of Nanchang, Jiangxi province at 1.25am on Tuesday, news portal Sina.com reported on Thursday.

A video clip from the surveillance footage shows the BMW crashing into a road sign and railings at high speed before it explodes.

Two cars are seen pulling over in the 57-second clip and several people rush to help those in the BMW, then run from the flaming car.

The driver, identified by his surname Li, died at the scene, according to the report.

An injured passenger was taken to hospital but it was unclear what condition they were in.
