A mountain in central China has exploded into a kaleidoscope of colour with the arrival of autumn, drawing hordes of tourists desperate to see the striking natural phenomenon.
The slopes of Changshou Mountain in Henan province are lined with tress and bushes throughout the year, but with the onset of autumn the plain carpet of colour their leaves create is transformed into a stunning tapestry of brilliant pinks, rich reds, vibrant yellows and glowing greens.
According to a report by local newspaper Henan Daily, the mountain attracts tens of thousands of tourists a day at this time of year. As a result, the government of the nearby town of Zhulin has spent about 200 million yuan (US$30.2 million) over the past decade or so developing the area as a tourist destination, the report said.

The Red Leaves Festival is held annually in late October to celebrate the changing of the leaves, but the colourful display continues through until the end of November, it said.
Known as Longevity Mountain in Mandarin, the peak is located about 60km outside Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan.
