Truck driver lost control and slammed into stationary traffic on Jinan ring road, witness says

Two people were killed and six injured in a chain collision involving 10 vehicles during rush hour in eastern China on Sunday, local media reported.

The accident happened at about 6.30pm when the driver of a heavy truck lost control and slammed into stationary traffic on a ring road in the city of Jinan, Shandong province, Global Times on Monday quoted a witness as saying.

The impact caused four rear-end collisions along the line of traffic, according to a police statement.

Those injured in the accident were in stable condition, the statement said.

Traffic was banked up on the busy road but returned to normal about six hours after the accident.
