Eight people were killed and two seriously injured when a partially built garage collapsed in southwest China.

The 10 victims were all working on the construction site in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, at the time of the accident on Monday afternoon.

Four other workers escaped with minor injuries. Three of them were able to escape from the scene and a fourth was quickly pulled from the rubble, the Guanshanhu district government announced on China’s Twitter-like Weibo.

However, the other 10 were left trapped in the rubble for several hours and by the time all had been accounted for at 3am on Tuesday, eight had been confirmed dead.

The two survivors were being treated at a local hospital, where the other workers had earlier been treated, the statement continued.
