Pretty Powerful role for Bobbi Brown ambassador Anita Yuen

VANESSA WONG

Actresses Anita Yuen Wing-yee has been busy with charity work in recent years and her latest project is Bobbi Brown's Pretty Powerful initiative.

Yuen was appointed ambassador of the initiative and has done a photo shoot and video calling for applications to become a member of the Pretty Powerful volunteer team, whose main job will be to help disadvantaged women build their confidence.

Those selected will take a course with the brand's professionals to learn basic make-up skills, which they will in turn pass on to disadvantaged women through various outings. That includes doing the make-up for women at non-profit organisation Christian Action to prepare them for taking a better photograph for their CV.

The initiative is in line with Bobbi Brown's belief that "all women are pretty without make-up - and can be pretty powerful with the right make-up", as well as the brand's support for non-profit organisation Dress for Success to help disadvantaged women gain economic independence by offering presentable outfits and work support.

"If you ask me how to become the most beautiful woman in the world? I'd say: love everybody around you," says Yuen in the promotional video. Those who agree with her and believe that a person's beauty is based on both appearance and a loving heart may want to know more about the initiative by checking out www.facebook.com/BobbiBrownHongKong The deadline for applications is September 5.
