Eco-chic furniture store TREE has unveiled "Sand", its new collection for children. Inspired by designer Silvia Marlia's childhood experiences in Italy, her children and the Montessori education system, each piece of furniture is designed for toddlers aged three to seven. Taking into account their needs as they grow, the furniture comes with adjustable bars and shelves, which Marlia says she hopes "will grow with them and teach them to be independent". The collection includes beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs and accessories - all proportional to children's heights and made in natural American walnut and oak with bright matte paint. The aesthetic is minimalist with a focus on design and natural materials, which matches the design philosophy of TREE. Marlia chose "Sand" as the name of the collection as a metaphor for young children and their malleable minds. "Children at that age are not fully formed people yet and are still able to change and adapt," she said. The collection was launched at TREE's flagship store in Ap Lei Chau by its managing director, Kate Babington, and Marlia. The firm is known for its dedication to sourcing materials and its locally designed unique furniture items.
