Hong Kong felt tremors caused by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in neighbouring Guangdong province on Friday afternoon.
The observatory said it received more than ten reports locally from people who felt earth tremors, which lasted a few seconds.
Initial analysis indicated that the earthquake occurred at 1.52pm near Heyuan, in northern Guangdong, about 190 kilometres from Hong Kong.

The epicentre was located about 10 kilometres north of Heyuan.
On February 16, a 4.8-magnitude quake that occurred 35 kilometres northwest of Heyuan was felt in Hong Kong.
