British clothing retailer Thomas Pink has gone all patriotic with this year's autumn-winter menswear collection.

"With the Olympics and the jubilee, there's a lot of red, white and blue, and we have used the Union flag on the cufflinks and detailing on special-edition shirts," brand manager Joann Kok said on Tuesday at the launch of the collection at its Landmark store.

"For the ladies, we have a strong collection of animal prints and some beautiful silk blouses. We have reinvented the white shirt for ladies in cress cotton and beautiful silks. And there's a lot of red, obviously, for Christmas."

Local men were becoming more conscious about how they looked, Kok said, and the way they were paying more attention to detail was a good start.

"They're taking an interest in how they look in terms of shirts, collars ... and mixing and matching with ties and cufflinks, which is great."

One thing guys still needed to put more effort into, however, was bow ties. "In the old days, the bow tie was for tuxedos and black-tie events. Nowadays, we've come up with paisleys, spotted and floral bow ties, which require a certain personality to carry it off.
