For almost two months after they first met, Charles Ng and Kelly Tsoi communicated only through text messages. But after their first date they both felt that they had a future together.
Charles, an equity capital markets manager, and Kelly, deputy chairwoman of a maritime school in Quanzhou , Fujian , wed on September 17. They celebrated in the ballroom of the Grand Hyatt hotel with 550 friends and relatives, many of whom flew in from overseas.
The couple met last year when Kelly was based in Singapore.
Their parents had been friends for years and organised a get-together when Charles' family visited the city state.
At first, Charles thought Kelly was a bit shy, but he was attracted to a special something in her eyes. Kelly was impressed by the respect Charles showed for his parents.
"He is such a sweet son," she said.
The following day Charles returned to Hong Kong, and they messaged each other almost every day. Two months later Charles visited Kelly in Singapore again, and asked her out on a date.
