Sunglasses with which to seeand be seen

TVB actress-turned-singer Fala Chen Fa-la said owning a good pair of shades was as important as breathing, although she might have been exaggerating just a little.

"Sunglasses are essential for us actresses. I wear them when I don't feel like putting on make-up or when I'm out and about in strong sunlight," she said at the opening of American fashion brand Jill Stuart's new shop in Causeway Bay's Times Square.

The shop has a counter dedicated to sunglasses and Chen was among the first people to check out the girlie, vintage-inspired shades.

"Sunglasses are not only for functional use but also necessary for complementing your whole look," said Chen, who was wearing a see-through black lace dress at last Thursday's event. "A gorgeous pair that suits your facial features can instantly make you look more fashionable and stylish."

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, Jill Stuart will hold a runway show tomorrow at the Elements mall in West Kowloon, with models including Jennifer Tse Ting-ting and Ankie Beilke.

An exhibition featuring images from the brand's design archives will run from tomorrow until Sunday in the atrium.
