Severely mentally disabled patients can now be whisked around hospital in carriages attached to a ceiling rail instead of having to be wheeled or carried by staff.

The HK$6 million full-ceiling hoist system is a new facility at the Siu Lam Hospital and the first of its kind in Hong Kong. The hospital is the only one in the city which provides comprehensive rehabilitation and infirmary services exclusively for adult patients with severe mental disabilities.
