The name of the man who died during a triathlon on Lantau on Sunday was confirmed yesterday as 27-year-old lawyer Daniel Bagshaw.

The Hong Kong-based expatriate collapsed minutes from the finishing line on the second day of the two-day Hong Kong ITU Triathlon Asian Cup at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Bagshaw was given first aid by paramedics at the scene and was then taken to Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung, where he was pronounced dead at 12.35pm.

Police said Bagshaw collapsed on Sea Point Road, outside Disneyland's Hollywood Hotel, near the finishing line of the race.

Bagshaw, originally from the United Kingdom, was an associate at the Hong Kong office of international law firm Linklaters. He had been with the company since September 2009 and moved to Hong Kong in March last year.

"Dan was a highly talented individual who excelled at all he did, both in and outside the office, and had a terrific future," a Linklaters statement said.
