Wan Chai's Star Street neighbourhood just got hipper with the opening of Club Monaco's first men's-only store.

The pop-up branch, housed between multi-label shop Kapok and the Monocle lifestyle shop on St Francis Yard, opened on Thursday and will remain there until at least January.

The Canadian brand's "Made-in-the-USA" fashion collection is on sale at the shop, alongside books, periodicals, watches, vintage furniture and artworks. The collection of denim, suits, shirts, ties and outerwear was sourced, designed and fitted in the US.

Model Anthony Sandstrom played DJ at the celebratory opening party. To reflect the American theme, a yellow New York cab bearing the band's logo was parked outside, while a food stand served tacos, mini-burgers and hot dogs.

The brand's vice-president of men's design, Aaron Levine, flew in for the occasion.

"Hong Kong men are international - you can see people dressed in Japanese, Korean, American or European styles," Levine said. "Hong Kong men are fashion-conscious and open-minded. They are eager to try out new styles and are willing to embrace changes."
