Elderly people received red packets of money today from the Director of Social Welfare, Patrick Nip, at a traditional ceremony organised by the Tang Shiu Kin and Ho Tim Charitable Fund.
The ceremony took place in the Sally Wong Leung Hall at the headquarters of Po Leung Kuk in Causeway Bay to mark the start of the new year.
It included a dragon dance, magic tricks, festive dancing and a banquet.
Video reporter Stephen Quinn watched as Mr Nip gave money to the oldest recipient, a sprightly 89-year-old.
