They said they let their infant daughter defecate into a plastic bag because she had an upset stomach and “couldn’t go in the morning”.

A video of a couple arguing with other passengers after they allowed their child to defecate in an MTR Corporation train compartment, went viral on social media Monday.

The minute-long clip taken by a bystander showed a man and a woman on the MTR East Rail refusing to get off the train, despite MTR staffers’ repeated pleas and passenger complaints that they were making the compartment smell.

They said they let their infant daughter defecate into a plastic bag because she had an upset stomach and “couldn’t go in the morning”.

The Cantonese-speaking couple had strong mainland accents and were carrying luggage and a baby stroller with them. The man claimed to be from Hong Kong.

Other passengers could be heard in the background demanding the couple get off as two MTR staffers, trapped in the heated row, reasoned with them. They offered to call the police.

“She’s not [defecating] anymore so why should we get off the train?” the man fired back at them. “Don’t threaten me. I’m not scared. You can call the police if you want…if you want to play, I’ll play with you, I don’t mind at all.”

Apple Daily posted the video onto YouTube entitled: “Mainlanders defecating in an MTR compartment again! Mainland mother not apologetic, netizens fume”.

A repost by Facebook humour blog WFC Daily drew 2,700 likes, 450 comments and 1,800 shares on Tuesday.

“Even my pets know where to use the toilet,” one person commented on the post.

Last week, the mainland blogosphere was up in arms after a photo surfaced of a group of western tourists relieving themselves on a Shanghai overpass.
