CY Leung's illegal room at Peak home remains, six months on
Chief executive Leung Chun-ying has yet to rectify the illegal extension at his house on The Peak six months after the warning from the Buildings Department, development chief told lawmakers on Wednesday.

Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying has yet to rectify an illegal extension found in one of his houses on The Peak, six months after the Buildings Department issued a warning, his development chief says.
Secretary for Development Paul Chan Mo-po was referring to a 320 sq ft space that building inspectors uncovered behind a wall in Leung's house at No 4 Peel Rise in December.

Chan, in response to lawmaker Albert Ho Chun-yan's question yesterday, said the department was still looking at a mitigation proposal submitted by Leung's authorised person to reinstate that part of the house.
"It doesn't mean there's no progress," he told the legislature. "The mitigation work is complicated. For example, the department has to consider the building's loading, structural safety, possible difficulties involved and environmental impacts."
He said Leung's authorised person had, in the past six months, held meetings and on-site observations with buildings officials and made six submissions to the department.
The department had required the person to give more information after receiving the proposal.
