Commercial radio show host Wan Hoi has resigned from the station after it cut 20 minutes out of a pre-recorded programme in which he talked about a mainland micoblog service removing a photo of participants at the recent June 4 vigil in Victoria Park.

Wan, a UFO enthusiast and paranormal expert, said on his Facebook page that he had tendered his resignation to Commercial Radio in protest against the action and would spend more time writing books.

“I will put the radio programme aside for now. I hope we can work together again some day,” he said in a message posted late on Monday.

Wan’s programme, called No 4 Mount Davis programme, airs every Saturday from 1am to 3am. His normal topics are mysterious objects and supernatural phenomena.

In the June 8 episode of his programme, Wan was speaking about mystic happenings during periods of heavy rainfall and happened to criticise Sina Weibo administrators for removing a photo from his microblog that showed participants at June 4 vigil, which commemorates the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown, braving the rain.

Wan said the radio station cut the segment out of the programme without notifying him and replaced it with music.
