Once more round Macau's Grand Prix circuit for Hong Kong racing icon
Albert Poon, 77, will drive in a special event to celebrate the Macau Grand Prix's 60th year

Hong Kong's most iconic motor racing driver will be getting behind the wheel one more time as part of the Macau Grand Prix's 60th anniversary.
In 1964, Albert Poon became the first Hongkonger to win the race and he will be on the grid again this year in the Lotus Greater China Race.
The last time 77-year-old Poon competed at Macau was 10 years ago at the event's 50th anniversary. It's a place that holds happy memories for him.
"Every year I've driven at Macau has been memorable but the early years were the best," Poon said. "I'll never forget watching the race for the first time in 1958. I thought: 'I can do that. I do that all the time in the street!'."
To celebrate the anniversary races will be held over two weekends - November 9 and 10 and November 14 to 17.
Poon said he had no special way of driving the famous Macau street circuit. He entered his first Macau Grand Prix in 1959, came in third in 1962 and won it two years later. Since then, he has scored numerous victories in Asia as well as three more second placings and one third in Macau in the 1960s and 70s.
