The event, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council and the Construction Industry Council, is part of the government's city-wide "Hong Kong Our Home" campaign aimed at injecting positive energy into the community.

Participants will be asked to swap suits for cooler wear to reduce the need for air conditioning and cut back on electricity usage.

A spokeswoman for the Green Building Council said 11 companies and organisations had pledged to join the event, including Swire Properties, Yau Lee Holdings, Hip Shing Hong and the Academy for Performing Arts. Planning officials working in the Energising Kowloon East Office would also participate, she said.

The dress code guidelines advise participants to dress light, but keep it professional.

For example, outfits made from thin, breathable fabrics and minimal layers are encouraged - but they should still convey a stylish look.
