Government's new zoning plan a 'waste of valuable resources'
Government also warned against 'supersized' public housing in new town

Private developers have dismissed as "a waste of valuable land resources" a government plan to zone 72 hectares of land for a logistics and data centre in the proposed Hung Shui Kiu new town development in the northwestern New Territories.
The Real Estate Developers Association also warned against planning too much public housing there.
In a letter to the Planning Department on Thursday, the developers association expressed concerns that the government's proposal could waste the development potential of Hung Shui Kiu.
On plans to develop logistics and information technology industries there, the association said: "While these industries are very land extensive, they are not labour intensive. Moreover, the skill sets required may not match with those of the local residents.
"It would be a waste of valuable land resources to maintain such a large tract of land which can be changed to commercial and business uses to complement the regional town centre development for better employment opportunities."
It also said: "The supersized [public housing] sites in the northern part of the area are out of tune with the commercial and business activities and will limit the chance of growth of the centre in the future."
