Some of China's Olympic gold medallists will visit Hong Kong and show off their skills during the opening ceremony of the new Victoria Park swimming pool, the government said yesterday.
National divers - including Olympic gold medallists Wu Minxia, He Zi, Chen Ruolin and Qin Kai - will grace the boards at the event on November 24.
A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said 1,400 free tickets for the ceremony would be distributed to the public.
"Members of the public will have a chance to witness the marvellous skills of the world's best diving athletes in the diving pool of the new pool complex," the spokesman said.
The divers will be demonstrating their abilities alongside local diving athletes Xie Zhen and Sharon Chan, who recently secured silver and bronze medals, respectively, at the sixth East Asian Games in Tianjin .
There will also be a synchronised swimming performance and a 4 x 50-metre short-course swimming relay race, in which local athletes will participate.
