Police arrested two mainlanders on The Peak late last night for their alleged involvement in a burglary attempt on a luxury house at Mount Kellett Road.
The duo was said to have sneaked into the house in La Hacienda on The Peak and tried to rob its occupants at about 8pm on Thursday evening.
But they were unsuccessful and fled empty-handed, a police spokeswoman said.
The pair was nabbed on a bus after police put up a road block.
Residences at Mount Kellet Road have seen at least four break-ins this week.
Another resident in La Hacienda Kennedy Wong Ying-ho, chairman of jewellery retainer 3D-Gold Jewellery, reported HK$3 million worth of valuables missing when his house on No 29 was burgled on July 13.
On Monday and Tuesday, two blocks at Kellett View Town House were also hit by break-ins, although no property loss has been confirmed.
On Wednesday, a house on No 73 was broken into, but nothing was taken.
Police have not arrested anyone involved in these four cases.
