Members of the Hong Kong community paid tribute yesterday to three young Australian siblings who died when a Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down over Ukraine last month.

The three Maslin children - Mo, 12, Evie, 10, and Otis, eight - grew up in Hong Kong for several years and attended the Australian International School in Kowloon Tong.

Brothers Mo and Otis played for the Cobras team, part of a junior Australian Football League club.

At a tournament held yesterday at the Hong Kong Football Club, players from the under-11s and under-14s wore black armbands in memory of the Maslin children.

The teams also observed a minute's silence with players, coaches, family and friends also paying tribute in the private event.

Last weekend, Leonie Drew, co-head of the Australian International School, attended a memorial service in Perth, Western Australia - where the Maslin family were originally from - along with other families from Hong Kong who were close to the Maslins.
