A cleaner who discovered the half-naked and bound body of a 15-year-old girl in a bag at a Mong Kok refuse collection centre recalled today how she helped a “polite” man load the bag into a bin.
Chan Lai-kuen, 58, said the man told her the red, white and blue nylon bag carried “usual rubbish” when she met him in the Portland Street refuse collection at about 8am yesterday.
She approached him when the man tried to leave the bag on the floor inside the centre. She told him that he could not leave it on the floor.
“He failed to load the bag into a [big] rubbish bin. I then helped him,” Chan said.
When she told him construction waste and concrete could not be disposed at the dump, she said: “He claimed it was just usual rubbish.”
The man thanked her for her help before he left the site.
