The best defence is a good offence, as many top-notch sportsmen might attest. But how many sportsmen would figure that a good offence can also be the best way to raise funds?

Dah Sing Bank employee Robert Tsui Chi-lung put the theory into practice recently when he led a company team against a group of up-and-coming young basketball players in a charity match as part of the Operation Santa Claus campaign.

And the catch? The more points each team scored, the more the bank would donate to the annual fundraising marathon, co-organised by the and RTHK.

"I tried my best to minimise my defence to let the students score," joked Tsui, who said he also attempted more three-pointers to boost the score.

"I know this is a charity event and it's basketball-related … so I hoped I could make some contributions with my talent," said Tsui, who once represented Hong Kong in an Asia 3-on-3 tournament.

The entertaining and at times exciting game took place at the Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai.
