A session at the Legislative Council had to be adjourned on Wednesday night because there were not enough lawmakers in attendance.
Fewer than the quorum of 35 lawmakers, or half the total of 70, were in the chamber when it was due to vote on a non-binding amendment to a motion related to reducing insurance fraud moved by Labour Party legislator Lee Cheuk-yan.
After the quorum bell had expired, the President of the Legislative Council, Jasper Tsang Yok-sing announced at about 10pm the meeting was adjourned until next Wednesday.
This was the first time this year that a Legco meeting had to be aborted owing to the absence of a quorum.
