Interpol joins hunt for two suspects in Hong Kong attack on Pakistani man

Interpol has launched a worldwide search for two Pakistani men who are being sought in a brutal attack on a Pakistani businessman last year.

Hong Kong police sought help from the international police agency last week after they received information that the two key suspects had fled the city.

The pair - identified on the Interpol website as Ali Bilal, 28, and Muhammad Imran, 33 - are accused of attacking Qamar Minhas with a box cutter in a busy shopping area on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, on January 10 last year.

They are among 17 people being sought by Hong Kong authorities through Interpol.

Minhas - who is a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission, president of the Pakistan Association of Hong Kong and chairman of the Incorporated Trustees of Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong - suffered a 45cm deep cut to his back and lost a lot blood in the attack.

The businessman, 44, told the Sunday Morning Post that he welcomed the worldwide manhunt. "I strongly believe in the professionalism of the police force and hope they can catch the two culprits and bring them to justice," he said.

In the interview with the Post recently, the father of four said he was still afraid for his life and his family, as the two attackers and the mastermind behind his assault were still at large.
