Hong Kong cabin crew union to stage protest against handling of luggage for daughter of Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying
Union raises security concerns over retrieval of bag left behind at airport as she boarded flight
At least 500 flight crew union members are expected to turn up for a rally at the airport this Sunday to protest against a suspected breach of security regulations over the handling of a piece of left luggage for Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying’s daughter.
Themed “Safeguard Hong Kong’s skies, no tolerance for security loopholes”, members of the federation, which represents flight crew from Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, will gather at the arrivals hall at 3pm.
Federation General Secretary Carol Ng Man-yee said they have already applied for a letter of no objection from police, while informing the Airport Authority of their arrangements.
She refused to disclose exactly what activities they have planned for the three-hour sit-in, but stressed there will be nothing “radical”. Following the rally, representatives will head to the Civil Aviation Department’s headquarters to submit a petition to Director-General Norman Lo Shung-man.
