Start your engines: updated Tesla Model S arrives in Hong Kong
Customers who ordered previous version may have orders updated to new model, which comes with new front bumper design and improved headlights and air filtration system

Tesla fans are now able to buy the updated version of the Model S electric car, with enhanced features to improve nighttime visibility and cabin air quality, but buyers who placed orders for the old model will not have an updated vehicle except in some exceptional cases.
Introducing the latest model’s arrival in the city at a pop-up display in Pacific Place on Friday, Andrew Pang, store manager for Tesla Motors HK Ltd, said the new model had a number of new features, including a “sexy” front bumper design and an air filtration system previously available only on the Model X.
The system is capable of removing 99.97 per cent of particulate exhaust pollution and all allergens, bacteria and other contaminants from cabin air. Its “bioweapon defence mode” also creates positive pressure inside the cabin to protect occupants.
“This air filter is commonly used in operation theatres in hospitals and also laboratories. This system is particularly suitable for highly polluted places like Hong Kong,” Pang said.
The front bumper now comes without the traditional nose cone, and other features include new adaptive headlamps with 14 adjustable LED dynamic turning lights for improved nighttime visibility and safety, body-colored side rockers and a smarter rear diffuser to improve the car’s efficiency.
