An oil tanker broke down on Peak Road, causing serious traffic congestion on Thursday for hours before it was removed in the late afternoon.
Police said the vehicle came to a halt outside Sinopec filling station on Peak Road near the junction with Barker Road shortly before 3pm Thursday.
A police spokeswoman said a one-lane, two-way traffic arrangement was implemented on site and that “traffic was congested”.

No cause for the vehicle’s breakdown was given.
The Transport Department said that at one point traffic queues stretched more than two kilometres and ended at Garden Road in Central.
However, shortly after 5pm the department said the blocked road had “re-opened to all traffic”.
It said affected bus routes had been diverted and that the public had been advised to use alternative transport to The Peak.
