Man, 68, dies after attempted sea rescue at Hong Kong beach
Victim was airlifted to hospital by government helicopter but later declared dead
A 68-year-old man died on Wednesday after he was spotted drowning at a Hong Kong beach and airlifted to hospital.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to Pak Lap Wan beach in Sai Kung Country Park at about 12.45pm.
The man was unconscious as he was airlifted by a government helicopter to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan, police said.
A spokeswoman from the force said the victim was certified dead at about 2pm.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
