Resellers are optimistic of making a profit when the latest version of Apple’s iPhone launches in Hong Kong and mainland China on September 25.
The release of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus is set to provide short-term momentum to flagging retail sales, as Hong Kong stores will offer a 15 per cent discount on the handsets compared to mainland stores.
However, the strong Hong Kong dollar means it is more expensive for mainland consumers shopping in the city.

At one of the hundred or so independent smartphone retailers in Mong Kok, Lo Lau, owner of G World Mobile, said there was so much to like about the upgraded phone.
“Apple have upgraded the quality of the front and back cameras, installed 4K video, a better battery life, and made the technology much faster to use. The overall quality is excellent,” he said.
