Italian luxury brand Tonino Lamborghini has reached the end of the road in Hong Kong because of poor sales amid a retail slump in the city’s luxury market, shutting down more than 10 independent shops and in-store counters.

While the maker of clothing, accessories and watches is closing shop, the Lamborghini car business, which is run under a separate brand name, is not involved.

A shop assistant at the firm’s Tsim Sha Tsui store told the Post she would soon have to find a new job after working for a decade with Lamborghini.

“We were told all the stores in Hong Kong would be closed, but [the company] didn’t say exactly when,” she said.

Tonino Lamborghini is named after and started by the only son of the luxury sports car maker’s founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini. The son launched his own brand in 1981 after serving as president of several companies within his father’s group. The two brands remain separate, with the accessory business selling a variety of luxury products including apparel, bags, shoes and watches.
