Chief Secretary Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor is expected to meet the top manager of property investment trust the Link Reit on Tuesday, the South China Morning Post has learned.

The Post understands that it will be the first time that Lam has met Link Asset Management’s new chairman Nicholas Charles Allen since he took over in April.

The pair are expected to discuss concerns over areas such as high rents and small tenants being forced out under the Link, a source with knowledge of the meeting said, and Allen is expected to explain the Link’s operations as a private company.

The meeting comes after Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying, in an exclusive interview with the Post late last month, questioned whether the company, which runs 155 car parks, 131 malls and 78 markets on the Housing Authority’s public housing estates, linked its executives’ compensation with rental revenues to maximise profit.

Leung also vowed to provide alternatives to the company’s facilities, saying Lam had been leading the task of tackling public concerns.
