The second prize was shared by 9.5 units with each winner taking around HK$941,000 home.

The drawn numbers were: 7, 18, 24, 26, 39 and 45, with the extra number as 44.

Ahead of the draw, many flocked to Hong Kong’s “lucky” Jockey Club betting shop on Stanley Street in Central on Thursday.

Office ladies were also among those queuing at a branch on Tsim Sha Tsui’s Prat Avenue during lunch time.

One of them, 28-year-old Li, made her maiden purchase and said her colleagues sent her there to try her luck.

“Four colleagues and I each contributed HK$20. They said I should buy the tickets as [the first time] was more lucky,” she said
