Baptist University leads fall in public ratings of all 10 Hong Kong tertiary institutions
Public ratings of all 10 local tertiary institutions have fallen significantly this year and it may be linked to the effects of the Occupy movement.

Public ratings of all 10 local tertiary institutions have fallen significantly this year and it may be linked to the effects of the Occupy movement.
Baptist University faced the most significant drop in mean scores, falling behind City University for the first time to sixth place, according to a survey conducted by the University of Hong Kong's public opinion programme.
"We believe socio-political factors are the reasons for the overall drop in public perception towards universities," programme director Dr Robert Chung Ting-yiu said yesterday.
"Occupy Central last year has torn Hong Kong society apart and things are becoming increasingly politicised. Many universities cannot avoid being caught in the political storm and that affects public perception," he said.
The study, commissioned by non-profit website Education18.com ranked the institutions in the same order as last year - except for the swap between City and Baptist universities.
