NBA superstar Michael Jordan wows at-risk Hong Kong teenagers

Basketball legend Michael Jordan surprised a room full of Hong Kong teenagers today, offering life advice to fresh-faced fans hoping to follow in his footsteps.
“If you love something, you do it every day.” the former Chicago Bulls superstar told members of the SAR basketball youth league who are part of a new global initiative sponsored by Jordan’s venture, Jordan Wings, to get children off the street and on to the basketball court.
Encouraging at-risk teens from disadvantaged households to avoid crime and triads, Jordan said: “I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for my education and for college,” adding that he was grateful for his parents’ guidance and the support of his coach and mentor, Dean Smith.

Jordan – one of the world’s most marketed sportsmen – arrived in Hong Kong yesterday to promote a youth engagement project. He spoke to a small group of youngsters at Hong Kong’s only 24-hour youth centre.
The NBA star was reportedly pictured living it up in Lan Kwai Fong last night.
He will visit the mainland for the next eight days, making stops in Shanghai among other cities.
“I haven’t been in China for 11 years, but I’m enjoying coming back. People are always so friendly,” he said.
