A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a fatal traffic accident on Sunday morning after colliding head-on into a tour bus along Tai Po’s Bride’s Pool Road.

He was part of a group of motorcyclists that were travelling one behind the other in the direction of Wu Kau Tang at about 9.45am, when it came across a tour bus full of hikers coming in the opposite direction en route to Tai Po.

Two other bikers, aged 46 and 48, suffered light injuries in the crash.

The first biker is believed to have lost control of his vehicle while entering a bend, just near the Chung Pui area, smashing into the right fender of the oncoming bus. He suffered heavy injuries as his body was thrust several metres forward.

Two fellow riders trailing behind him failed to stop in time and lost control of their motorcycles, skidding about 60 metres, said police inspector Lee Ka-sing of the New Territories North accident investigation team. They suffered minor arm and leg injuries.

Footage at the scene showed three heavily damaged Ducati sport bikes scattered across the road, while the right fender of the bus was caved in. Debris was strewn across the scene.
