Five people were injured, one seriously, as they tried to fly under their own power at Kai Tak.

A female contestant at the Red Bull Flugtag fainted on Sunday after her “Flying Lobster” aircraft ditched in Victoria Harbour. She was unconscious for about a minute and taken to United Christian Hospital for treatment.

The other four competitors suffered slight injuries, including cuts and mild concussion.

The Flugtag – German for “flight day” – attracted a top flight of aerial daredevils who designed, built and piloted their machines at a park on the site of the city’s former airport.
