RTHK head of acquisition Amy Kwong Sze-yin said the broadcaster was pleased to present “this rarity which shows the iconic songwriter at his most genuine narrative through the lens of a master”.
She described a recent “hectic three weeks” of securing the consent of Dylan’s management, translating the script, dubbing the voice-over and producing subtitles for all the songs featured in the film.
The 2005 film – condensed to 208 minutes from 10 hours of footage – features Dylan telling his story himself. The broadcaster will screen the film spotlighting the multiple Grammy-winning artist without commercial breaks.
