The Urban Renewal Authority is inviting community-based groups to draft proposals for a planned heritage walk around Kowloon City, to be financed by a trust fund.

Serena Lau Sze-wan, board director of the Urban Renewal Fund, said the aim was to explore a new, “bottom-up” and community-based planning model through this activity for future design projects.

“If it turns out to be a good model, we can use this for other community projects in the long run,” Lau said.

The Urban Renewal Authority injected HK$500 million into the fund, set up in 2011, to enhance community involvement in urban renewal projects.
