Participants of Hong Kong charity contest by Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel fashion outfits for teddy bears

Competition organised as part of Operation Santa Claus campaign attracts more than 2,000 designs

Staff and supporters of a major hotel chain have come together to celebrate the end of a festive charity competition in Hong Kong, which saw more than 2,000 participants submit unique teddy bear outfit designs.

The fashionable creations were unveiled on a huge wall at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui East on December 19, as part of the Operation Santa Claus (OSC) campaign, jointly organised by the South China Morning Post and RTHK.

The winning designs would be made into real teddy bear outfits and the winners would each receive a HK$2,000 food and beverage voucher.

Four of the city’s leading fashion designers – Walter Ma, Allan Chiu, Henry Lau and Benny Yeung – designed bespoke teddy bear outfits, which were displayed at the hotel to inspire participants, who paid up to HK$90 each to join the contest.

The Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts Group, which has supported the OSC for 14 years, hopes to match last year’s HK$108,000 donation with proceeds from the competition.
