Painting before she could walk, 10-year-old Australian abstract artist Aelita Andre has fans all over the world
Aged four, she opened first solo exhibition in New York City and was the youngest artist to stage a solo show in Russian Academy of Fine Arts Museum
Aelita Andre is no ordinary girl. The 10-year-old is an Australian abstract artist who started painting when she was just nine months old, even before she learnt how to walk.
At the age of four, she opened her first solo exhibition in New York City, and she was also the youngest artist to stage a solo show in a museum: the famed Russian Academy of Fine Arts Museum.
Her abstract expressionist work is critically acclaimed. Her first solo exhibition “The Prodigy of Colour” was sold out within merely seven days in 2011.
Besides her artistic talent, the young artist is like any other girls her age: vibrant and imaginative, building forts with canvases and violins cases.
During her recent visit to Hong Kong, Aelita worked with French furniture brand Roche Bobois to create a special art piece with its signature “Mah Jong” sofa for charity. She used the plain white couch as a canvas to create a wonderland of colours and textures.
