A man from Hong Kong who had been studying in the United States has drowned in Oregon.

According to Associated Press, Yau Kung-shing, 25, was out with friends on Monday at Three Pools, a popular swimming spot in a national forest.

When the group dove into the water, Yau never resurfaced.

Kayakers found a body two days later, and it was identified as Yau’s.

Yau was a student at Linn-Benton Community College and had studied in the United States for the past seven years.

Yau’s friends wrote on social media about his death, saying: “Our hearts are broken today, we lost an amazing soul. We love you Buddy, and we will always remember you...”
