If you fancy a trip to Kwai Chung, you may face some confusion after you exit Hong Kong’s oldest road tunnel heading towards Kowloon.

An embarrassing blunder by a road-marking crew misspelled ‘Kwai Chung’ as ‘Kwan Chung’.

The gaffe was noticed by local resident Rebecca Holdaway, who snapped a picture of the road marking while her partner drove through the Lion Rock Tunnel.

“We drive that route all the time and we only recently noticed it,” she said.

A Google Street View image in January showed that the words had previously faded, with the letters ‘I’ and ‘C’ barely visible. Holdaway’s image was recently taken.
