Search launched for ‘emotionally troubled’ pregnant woman who fled from Hong Kong hospital

Tuen Mun Hospital has asked the public to contact police if they have information on her whereabouts

Tuen Mun Hospital is appealing for help to find an emotionally troubled pregnant woman who left the medical institution without approval.

The 25-year-old woman, who is 17 weeks pregnant, left the observation area at the hospital’s emergency unit without notifying staff at about 3pm on Tuesday, a hospital spokesman said.

The woman had told the hospital she was dealing with emotional problems, the spokesman added.

Police were then called.

Hospital security launched a “full-scale” search within the hospital compound and in nearby areas but could not find her.

The hospital was highly concerned about the incident and fully cooperating with police in the search, the spokesman said.

The woman is about 1.55 metres tall, of thin build, and has long black hair. She was wearing a red shirt and light shorts when she was left.

The hospital asked the public to contact police on 3661 1670 or call the hospital hotline on 6468 0016 if they have information about her whereabouts.
